The McDonald Series wines are an expression of both their fruit and the vision of their namesake winemaker. An aromatic, textural Syrah with a core of rich berry fruit and dark plum, complimented by lifted floral notes, warm spice, liquorice and subtle oak. The palate is medium-weight and supple with a long finish. For quality reasons, this wine is unfined and unfiltered. Decanting is recommended.

Crafted from grapes that are hand-harvested from low yielding vineyards from the Gimblett Gravels winegrowing district, this wine was made using traditional winemaking techniques to emphasise complexity of flavour, aroma, power and elegance on the palate with a structure that provides great ageing potential.

Made from a single small area of Syrah, off our Redstone vineyard in the Bridge Pa Triangle, this block was intensively managed by hand to ensure very low crop levels and well exposed fruit, delivering ripe, intensely flavoured grapes. Along with a gentle, traditional winemaking approach, this has produced a wine of concentration and richness with an elegant, velvety tannin structure whilst still retaining the fresh, lifted aromatics Hawke's Bay Syrah is so well known for.
